How to Install & Use Mech-Q

We strongly recommend that you print these instructions and follow them carefully.

Installing Mech-Q
|
|
| |
-
EXIT AutoCAD (or IntelliCAD)
-
Use Windows Explorer - locate the downloaded file then double click on it to start the
program Setup.
-
If you can't find the file, click the Windows Start menu and select
Search (or "Find") then
search for the file name: "MQ*.exe".
-
When the Mech-Q Setup file is located, double click on it to begin the installation
process
-
Follow the instructions in the splash
screens.

Using
Mech-Q
|
|
| |
To use Mech-Q
successfully you need to follow a few simple steps. These steps vary
according to the version of Mech-Q you are using. Please follow the instructions
below - corresponding the AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT or IntelliCAD version that
you have.

MECH-Q
for AutoCAD 14-2011
|
|
| |
After you have installed Mech-Q on your hard drive:
|

Windows 7
|
|
1. after the installation of Mech, right click on "AutoCAD
20##" desktop icon.
2. select "Properties"
3. click on "compatibility" tab
4. make sure "Run this program in compatibility mode
for" under "Compatibility mode" is UNCHECK.
5. tick the box on "Run this program as an
administrator" under " Privilege Level".
Start AutoCAD by
using the desktop icon.

Start AutoCAD in the normal fashion.
If the Mech-Q was installed correctly, you will note that the Mech-Q menu (Pop-up and Toolbars) is now added to your existing menu.
Use the Mech-Q menu (toolbars or drop-down menu) to access the Mech-Q functions

Special NOTE
AutoCAD 2009- 2011 versions
|
If you do not have the AutoCAD "Tools" on the menu bar, type the following command at the AutoCAD command prompt:
MENUBAR and set the variable to 1 ( = ON) |

Special NOTE
AutoCAD 2006-11
versions
|
In most cases the installation & setup of
Mech-Q for AutoCAD 2006-10 will not require any other than those noted above.
However, in some rare cases the Mech-Q menu might fail to load. If
this happens, after you install Mech-Q - the first time you start AutoCAD type the following command at the AutoCAD Command prompt:
(load "MQSetupA")
This step should only be required once
(and only in rare cases of AutoCAD install setup)
If Mech-Q
is not working or the Mech-Q Menu is not automatically loaded - Please
follow the "Manually Loading Mech-Q"

Using MECH-Q for AutoCAD LT2006-LT2011
(With CADSTA Lisp Enabler) |

After you have installed Mech-Q on your hard drive:

Start
Mech-Q/AutoCAD LT by using the Mech-Q desktop icon.

IMPORTANT
To use Mech-Q or other Lisp based utilities - you must start AutoCAD
LT2006-LT2011 - by using the Mech-Q desktop icon.. This icon will be created on your desktop during the Mech-Q
setup.
CADSTA Lisp Enabler Serial Number/Auth. Code
When you start Mech-Q/AutoCAD LT for the first time - The CADSTA license
dialogue. Select the "Authorize" option to enter the Serial
Number and Authorization code supplied by ASVIC either by email or with the
software CD.
You may use the "Skip" option
to test the software (demo mode) for a maximum period of 30 days. If
you have not yet purchased Mech-Q and wish to purchase - use the "Purchase"
option.
After you use the "Authorize" or
"Skip" option - AutoCAD LT will load and will include both the CADSTA
and Mech-Q menu (Pop-up and Toolbars).
Use the Mech-Q menu (toolbars or drop-down menu) to access the Mech-Q functions.
If Mech-Q is not working or
the Mech-Q Menu is not automatically loaded - Please follow the "Manually
Loading Mech-Q" instructions

Using MECH-Q for IntelliCAD (and CADian/Bricscad/ZWCAD)
|

Important Note:
The install folder for Mech-Q IntelliCAD (or CADian/Bricscad/ZWCAD) must be the same as the IntelliCAD main install folder (Same
location as ICAD.EXE, Bricscad.exe or ZWCAD.exe)
After you have installed Mech-Q on your hard drive:
Start IntelliCAD in the normal fashion.
If the Mech-Q was installed correctly, you will note that the Mech-Q menu (Pop-up and Toolbars) is now added to your existing menu.
Use the Mech-Q menu (toolbars or drop-down menu) to access the Mech-Q functions

Manually
Loading Mech-Q
|

Follow the following steps to manually load
the Mech-q menu:
Start AutoCAD (or the Mech-Q
Start-up icon for AutoCAD LT versions)
A) Adding Mech-Q to the AutoCAD search Path
Check that the
installer has added Mech-Q to the AutoCAD search path:
1. From the >> "Tools" menu select "Options"
[ AutoCAD "A" menu
AutoCAD 2009+]
2. Select the "Files" tab
3. Select "Support Files Search Path"
Check to see that the Mech-Q install location is found in the AutoCAD search path.
If NOT...
3A) Use the "Add" button to add Mech-Q install location to the AutoCAD search path
default location:
AutoCAD: C:\Program Files\Mech-Q\A20??
AutoCAD LT: C:\Program Files\ASVIC\Mech-Q\20??
IntelliCAD: [Intellicad install location]\Mech-Q
(for example: C:\Program Files\CADian
2008\Mech-Q)
4. Use the "Apply" button & then "Close"
B) Load the MECH-Q menu
1. From the AutoCAD menu (or "A" menu) "Tools" menu select "Customize"
then "Customize Interface"
2. Make sure that you are in the "Customize" page and from the "All Customization Files" list select "Open"
3. Locate the Mech-Q customized user interface file: Mech-Q.CUI (found in the Mech-Q Install
folder)
Default Install location:
AutoCAD 20XY:
C:\Program Files\Mech-Q\A20XY
AutoCAD LT 200XY C:\Program
Files\ASVIC\Mech-Q\20XY\Menu
4. Use the "Open" tab to load the Mech-Q menu.
This should load the Mech-Q menu.

Authorizing Mech-Q
|
|
| |
(Not applicable to Network/Site licenses)
When you first run Mech-Q, the software will generate an Application Serial Number. The Serial Number must then be sent to ASVIC Engineering & Software - ASVIC will then process and forward to you the Authorization Key.
You can get the Application Serial Number by using either:

Mech-Q Start-up
dialogue
or

About Mech-Q
from the Mech-Q menu or
-
Authorize Mech-Q from the Mech-Q "Maintenance" menu
To apply for an Authorization Key please click here:
Using the Authorization Key Code:

From the MECH-Q pull down menu - Select MECH-Q Register
-
Enter the Authorization Key code EXACTLY as received (Case sensitive).

Select the OK tab.
If the Code entered is correct - MECH-Q registration will be accepted.

Mech-Q - Network Version
|

The Mech-Q
demo version is NOT suitable for network installations = A special build
of Mech-Q is required for using in a network environment - Please
